Food Truck Fridays

A community-centered series under BBN’s Economic Visibility Program—creating recurring opportunities for Black-owned food and retail vendors through food, music, and connection.

Launching March 6, 2026 in partnership with the City of Saint Paul.

Purpose & Vision

Food Truck Fridays is a community-centered initiative under BBN’s Economic Visibility Program, designed to increase visibility, circulation, and community engagement for Black-owned food businesses. The series creates recurring economic opportunities, celebrates local culture, and activates East Side spaces through food, music, and community connection.

Initiative Details

  • Vendor setup: 3:00–4:00 PM

  • Open to public: 4:00–9:00 PM

  • Last food orders: 8:30 PM

  • Exit/clean-up complete: by 9:00 PM sharp

  • Food + retail vendors

  • Music and community activation

  • Family-friendly, neighborhood-centered vibe

Vendor Structure

Food trucks are placed in pull-in vehicle spaces and must meet licensing and insurance requirements.

  • Full licensing + insurance required

  • Pull-in vehicle spaces

  • Menu list required

  • Fire/propane compliance if applicable

Retail vendors are welcome all season and placed in a dedicated vendor row separate from truck parking.

  • Allowed for all months (not summer-only)

  • 10×10 tent (or 6ft table setup)

  • Tent weights required (no stakes)

  • General liability insurance preferred (flexible for micro/youth vendors)

  • Separate retail row (does not block truck movement or fire lanes)

Vendor Requirements

Food Trucks (Required)
  • MDH Mobile Food Unit License OR City of Saint Paul MFU License

  • Certificate of Insurance (COI) listing Black Business Network MN as Additional Insured

  • Valid driver’s license + vehicle insurance

  • Menu list

Retail Vendors
  • 10×10 tent or 6ft table setup

  • Tent weights required (no stakes)

  • General liability insurance preferred (flexible for micro/youth vendors)

Insurance Minimums
  • General Liability: $1M minimum

  • Auto Liability (for trucks)

  • Food Liability (typically included with MFU insurance)

On-Site Amenities

Lighting & Safety

Well-lit setup and event flow.

Portable LED lighting supports evening vendor setup and improves visibility for public safety.

Sanitizing Stations

Clean zones for vendors and guests.

Two sanitizing stations will be available—one near the food truck area and one near the public eating zone.

Vendor Restrooms

Close, vendor-only access.

Vendor-only bathrooms will be coordinated within approximately 100 feet of the Food Truck Fridays setup.

Setup Supplies

Small tools when you need them.

Weekly operations supplies include tape, zip ties, cones, batteries, wipes, and basic tools for quick fixes.

Promotion & Outreach

Visibility before each event.

BBN supports digital promotion, truck recruitment ads, and neighborhood outreach to drive attendance and awareness.

Branded Signage

Clear directions and vendor flow.

Reusable branded signage includes entrances, directional signs, and vendor arrows to guide customers and support smooth operations
